It can be used to launch favorite and commonly used programs. It provides shortcuts to frequently used applications, such as word processors, image editing and compression software. But first of all it makes the Mac-desktop more fun! Apple has been including the Launcher-control panel for some years. It used to be called 'Starter' under system 7.5. Now 3D Launcher brings that same functionality with a much better looking interface. Designed by a professional graphic artist, 3D Launcher icons spin, move and shake to liven up your desktop. 3D Launcher needs at least a 120 mhz Macintosh Power PC with Quicktime 2.1 or higher. System 7.5 or higher is the minimum to run this program. 3D Launcher costs only $15 for private use. A corporate license (unlimited users) is $100. With a serial number, which can be ordered online and is provided within seconds after payment, 3D Launcher becomes fully-functional. When run as a demo it only launches some items. license: demo shareware fee: $15 catagory: utilities homepage: http://www.xs4all.nl/~invaders/3dlauncher.html questions: mailto:invaders@xs4all.nl #### LINK _Graphic **** #### LINK _Icons **** #### LINK _Kaleidoscope **** #### LINK _Textures **** #### BINHEX aaron-plus.hqx **** From: sighkey@bcpl.net Subject: Aaron+Plus Aaron+Plus is an accessory to "~Aaron" which I have come up with. You can create aliases of any Macintosh file, similar to the existing alias feature on the Macintosh OS. The main difference is that Alias It enables you to store multiple aliases within a single, double clickable file. Alias It is a drag and drop utility. You simply drag the file, or group of files that you want aliased onto the Alias It icon and it creates a multi-alias file. Once created, you can simply double click it and watch it open the group of files for you. The files will be opened in the order that they were added. There is no user interface other than what the Finder provides. Two versions of Alias It are provided. A System 7 version using the older two-dimensional icons, and a System 8 or later version, using the newer three-dimensional icon set. AliasMenu 2 features: * Menus are present in all opened applications. * The number of menus is unlimited. * Menus can be added after the application's menus, or inserted before. * Keyboard shortcuts are always active and can use any modifier key. * Ordering menus and items is easy. Separators can be inserted and removed on the fly. * Items of any kind can be put into a menu: folders, applications, documents, servers, scripts, and URLs. Use AliasMenu to create several cross-application bookmarks menus, always available. * Multiple launching: launch several items with a single keystroke or menu command. * Automatic text typing: put a text clipping in a menu to 'type' its text in any application. * AliasMenu can trigger FKeys from separate files, allowing the use of an unlimited number of FKeys with user-defined key shortcuts. AliasMenu is a $25 shareware. Secure online registration through Kagi is available. Encrypted e-mail registration and other methods are available within the control panel. AliasMenu adds customized menus to the menu bar. Each menu extra has a corresponding folder and the menu automatically reflects the folder's content. Create your own menus for Preferences, favorite Folders, often used Applications, an Internet menu including applications and web bookmarks, a Documents menu, a Utilities menu... Possibilities are endless. Any folder you create for AliasMenu instantly becomes an extra menu. The menu name can be replaced by an icon, to make it nicer or to save room in the menu bar and add more menus. Simply paste a custom icon on the folder. Version 3 has been entirely rewritten for Mac OS X and is fully Panther compatible. * Create Any Number of Menus: User-defined menus are actual menu extras, like the clock or volume menu. If you have a large screen, you can easily add as many as 15 or 20 menus. Submenus are supported. * Open Every Kind of Items: As did the old Apple menu, AliasMenu opens any object placed in one of its menus: applications, documents, folders, servers, scripts, and even URLs. * Powerful Keyboard Shortcuts: AliasMenu uses the 'ctrl' key by default instead of 'command' for the keyboard shortcuts, to avoid "collisions" with the applications' shortcuts. Assign shortcuts to anything, including folders and Internet bookmarks! [3.1.2] This is a bug-fix update. In some situations, a custom icon used as a menu title could freeze the menu auto-updating. What's new in version 3.1? * Alias icons are now displayed from the original files. The little alias arrow is gone from the menus (Yay!). * Masking of numeric prefix is now optional. A new check box in preferences lets you choose to hide numerix prefixes in file names. * Automatic link with AliasKeys. Any file appearing both in AliasMenu and AliasKeys will be displayed in the menu with the keyboard shortcut defined in AliasKeys. Both products are designed to work separately, nonetheless AliasKeys brings much more complete choice and ease to define shortcuts. #### BINHEX aliaskeys-103.hqx **** From: ChrisLi@Bridge1.com Subject: AliasKeys 1.0.3 - assign keystrokes to open files and folders AliasKeys lets you assign keystrokes to open files and folders. Any item that the Finder can open may be dragged to the list of AliasKeys and assigned a combination of keys, to open it without touching your mouse. You can use AliasKeys for applications, documents, folders, aliases, preference panels, servers, scripts... Hitting the keys opens the corresponding item, as would a double-click on its icon. AliasKeys is basically as simple as that; it is also extremely easy to set up. AliasKeys needs Mac OS X 10.2 or better. It is fully compatible with 10.3 "Panther". AliasKeys is fully unicode-aware and can be used with any international keyboard and localized system version. Languages included: English, French, Japanese. Changes in version 1.0.3: * A couple of cosmetic bugs fixed in the French resources. * Previous versions used a self-copying "internet-aware" disk image. They are a good idea, but they only work well in some web browsers. For many users, they create a unmanageable situation that has caused plenty of tech support emails. Thus, with this version, we are back to a "plain" .dmg file, along with a .sit for backup. * Adventurous users can test a hidden feature. Open "~/Library/Preferences/net.widemann.aliaskeys.plist" and set openFinderSelectionWithCapsLock to YES (or true), then save, log out and login back. From now on, if the capslock key is down, AliasKeys will try to open the selected item(s) in the Finder with the triggered item. For example, if the AliasKey is set to open Preview, selecting a PDF file and hitting the AliasKey will launch Preview and open the PDF, even if the PDF's creator is Acrobat. This feature may hit snags when combining some file types with certain applications, so be warned and use at your own risk. We do NOT tech-support this feature, however we'll accept gladly any comment or suggestion that you wish to offer. #### BINHEX align-utilities-9.hqx **** From: Luther Fuller Subject: Align Utilities 9 Align Utilities version 9.0.1 is a set of two AppleScript Drag & Drop applications, Window Align and Icon Align, that are useful in improving the appearance of disk and folder windows in Mac OS 9. It's not too bad with one clipping, but more than a couple leads to long sessions in the Finder assigning useful names, wasting the time you saved. ClippingNamer helps you manage clippings. Without leaving your current program, you can: * Automatically assign a new name based on the (text) clipping contents. * Automatically create a thumbnail image (icon) for picture clippings. * Popup a dialog that lets you see both ClippingNamer's and the Finder's suggested names, and use either one or a new name you type. * NEW - Save text or picture clippings as SimpleText files instead. * NEW - Append text clippings to existing files/clippings instead of creating new. You can set any of these modes (or none) as the default, and invoke any of the others with modifier keys (completely customizable). There are several other convenience options as well. One of the early wonders of the Mac was its revolutionary ability to do copy and paste across various applications. Unlike other areas in the Mac's system software that have changed and progressed over the years, copying and pasting has not evolved. How many times have you found yourself going back and forth copying in one application and pasting in a different application, wishing to yourself that you could copy 5-10 items at a time, then go to another application and paste each of these items. CopyPaste gives you this and much more. It turns out that having additional clipboards is incredibly useful. CopyPaste eliminates tedious repetitive work and increases your ability to get the job done. CopyPaste-X magnifies the clipboard in many ways. * Clipboard Extender - adds an infinite number of easy to access clipboards via menu or key command. Without CopyPaste the Mac has only one clipboard. * Clip Recorder - remembers the last 10-200 (user selectable) items copied via command c and keeps them in a stack. * Clipboard Editor - Edit any clipboard by simply double clicking in any clipboard palette. * Save Clipboards thru Restarts - allows all 10 Clipboards to be saved thru Shutdown or Restart. Without CopyPaste the Mac does not save its clipboard. * Drag and Drop - allows dragging anything to and from the CopyPaste Palette. Not only selections from a program, but also text, picture, sound or ClipSet files can be dragged. Now uses Quicktime to read files. CopyPaste-X for Mac OS X is also available. One of the early wonders of the Mac was its revolutionary ability to do copy and paste across various applications. Unlike other areas in the Mac's system software that have changed and progressed over the years, copying and pasting has not evolved. How many times have you found yourself going back and forth copying in one application and pasting in a different application, wishing to yourself that you could copy 5-10 items at a time, then go to another application and paste each of these items? Now you can, with a vengeance! To install, drag and drop the CopyPaste application onto your active System Folder. It will tell you it wants to go into the Extension Folder. Hit OK. Restart. CopyPaste eliminates tedious, repetitive work and increases your ability to get the job done. Just install it and read about the Clip Extender and the CopyPaste Palettes - then try it out a little at a time. CopyPaste will grow on you! Version 4.5.2 * Fixed a problem with clipboards not being saved through restarts. * Improved error handling. Version 4.5 * Shows a picture preview on the palette if a picture is in the clipbord. * The default clipboard (without number) now only goes into the Clip Recorder and will not change the clipboard 0 in the Clip Extender anymore. Two reasons are: You gain one more numbered clipboard accessible via command-C-0. The program source is cleaner because I do not have to handle so many special cases whenever a clipboard is accessed. This should cause less errors. * The display of the cliboard data for the menu and palette text preview is now extracted from the clipboard in real time. It was formerly done only once at copy time and could be wrong if the copy failed due to an error. The result was an empty clipboard still showing a content title. * Most important for OS X users this version can communicate with CopyPaste-X and transfer the classic clipboard to CopyPaste-X. * Some smaller bugfixes #### BINHEX copy-paste-lite-103-jp.hqx **** From: ChrisLi@Bridge1.com Subject: CopyPaste Lite 1.0.3J - Japanese Version This is the Japanese version of the CopyPaste Lite package. Every so often a piece of shareware comes along that makes us wonder how we lived without it-such is CopyPaste-X, the turbo Clipboard utility on steroids. It now contains yType which helps anyone to type faster and more accurately. CopyPaste-X augments the good old Mac OS Clipboard in all kinds of ways: It lets you record and remember Clipboard items, edit Clipboard contents, save copied text (and picture) to an archive, and the main attraction: use ten Clipboards simultaneously, typing Command-C and a number to differentiate between them. Handy floating palettes keep your clippings onscreen; you can minimize the palettes, or hide them entirely and access your boards via keystrokes, contextual menus, and the CopyPaste Dock icon. If you use the clipboard, you'll love CopyPaste. -- Niko Coucouvanis, MacAddict Magazine What's new in this version: Bug fixes * Corrections of the behavior of yType. * The problem with positioning of the suggestion window in Mellel and Nisus is fixed * The preference for yType now offers the option to use the clipboard for larger chunks of text. Default is 15 which causes typing for most common words, but clipboard usage for boilerplates. The result is better performance. You can set it between 0 and 255. * The color of the suggestion window should be stable even if a theme changing program is active. * The new hot keys to show the palettes now toggle visibility. * Inconsistency of command keys in the Editor fixed #### BINHEX copypaste.hqx **** From: julian@scriptsoftware.com Subject: CopyPaste 4.3.1 CopyPaste is the shareware utility that was awarded a 5 mouse rating by MacUser and was their shareware utility of the year 1996. How many times have you found yourself going back and forth copying in one application and pasting in a different application, wishing to yourself that you could copy 5-10 items at a time, then go to another application and paste each of these items. CopyPaste eliminates tedious repetitive work and increases your ability to get the job done. Changes In Version 4.3.1 € bug fixes: In Version 4.3 € bug fixes: - On Japanese systems the inline input method uses the Scrap Manager - very strange. This caused problems with the Clip Recorder. € Many programs do NOT use the DeskScrap (=the public clipboard) for their own copy and paste action, so CopyPaste sends these programs to the background and back to the front in order to get the desired clip. You could see this in previous versions when the program hides toolbars and other window elements. This version patches certain routines so that the toolbars stay on the screen, which accelerates CopyPaste`s performance. You can switch this option off in the preferences if you have compatibility problems. € Clip Sets now can be changed via hotkey. You can activate one of the ten Clip Sets either by selecting it from the menu or by typing F10 + #. This hotkey only works when the option "Use F2,F3, F4 Keys" is active, otherwise none of the function keys is intercepted by CopyPaste. € The iconized Palette can now be docked at the bottom of the screen and pops upwards when the mouse moves over it. Also a short delay for shrinking and expanding the Palette is introduced. € A new Tag and Drop feature has been added. If Tag and Drop is active, you can press ctrl, option, command and click the mouse between two characters of a word. The order of the two characters will be reversed. This is intended as a fast method to correct common typing errors. € The preferences now allow you to change settings for individual programs. The previously hardcoded settings are already preset but can be changed. The main preferences dialog contains the button "Application Exceptions" which leads to the new dialog window. € The e-mail UnComment now works smarter and removes all levels of comments. Additionally the text will be reformatted if the option key is pressed when you select e-mail UnComment. #### BINHEX copypaths-14-jp.hqx **** From: ChrisLi@Bridge1.com Subject: CopyPaths 1.4J - Japanese Version CopyPaths 1.4 - contextual Menu Plugin for MacOS. Requirements Any PowerPC machine running Mac OS 7.1 or higher. This program is Mac OS 8.0, 8.6, and even 9.0 savvy! 68k users are recommended to use version 1.2.1 of Desktop Resetter. For all of you 68k users, if you would like to see a Version 2.0 on your platform, please email me! What's New? Desktop Resetter now supports windows and popup windows! It has a sleek new interface and works faster than before. To see the full list of features, be sure to check the Help section. What is Desktop Resetter? Desktop Resetter is a simple program used to remember the icon and window locations and sizes on the desktop. This information can be recalled at a later time. This is useful if you play games or change resolutions frequently. It is also good since some programs tend to either change resolution or somehow cause things on the desktop to scatter randomly. Crashing can also cause desktop items to splatter. Now you won't have to withstand this unfortunate and annoying problem. Simply layout the desktop how you like it and 'Remember' the desktop's current setup. Should it get screwed up one way or another, just launch Desktop Resetter and 'Reset' the layout. In an instant, the windows should snap back to the way they were and their sizes will be recalled, and the icons will go back as well. A nice benefit of Desktop Resetter is that it is very fast. You can keep a copy of it handy in the Apple menu or on the Desktop so that you can easily launch it and remember or reset the desktop instantly. Desktop Resetter is an application only, it uses no extensions or control panels. This means that there is no way it can conflict with other programs, it only operates when you launch it and doesn't effect other applications other than the Finder itself (the desktop application). For a full list of features, please read the online Desktop Resetter Help. #### BINHEX desktop-resetter.hqx **** From: "Nick D'Amato" Subject: Desktop Resetter 2.1 Requirements Any Mac (yes 68k too!) running Mac OS 7.1 or higher. They work great but have the annoying habit of saving the screenshots at the top level of the hard drive. With a little research I discovered that there is in fact a way to specify where the pictures are saved and thus was born Desktop Screenshots. A tiny extension that redirects those picture files right to the desktop for easy access. Desktop Screenshots uses an undocumented feature of the standard system screen capture code. This feature appears to be available starting with at least System 7.6.1. Earlier system versions might work too but I haven't tested them. No system software modifications are made so it won't hurt anything to try it out, it will either work or not. Desktop Transporter fully supports any number of attached displays, and reconfigures itself on the fly to detect changes to your display configuration. Naturally, you may protect access to your desktop using a password, and a number of configuration options allow you to select the performance level best suited for your network. You can also view and control multiple desktops from different Macs on one Mac. Desktop Transporter also supports copy-and-paste of almost any object between local and remote displays. This version improves client-side performance and fixes a number of bugs. Desktop Transporter now also remembers the positions of its windows. Desktop Transporter requires MacOS X 10.2.8 or later, and performs best when the Macs sharing and accessing the shared desktop(s) are connected via a high-speed local-area network. This can be handy if you want to put your dock on the right side of the screen but want to avoid the conflict for space with the disk icons on the desktop. It can also help avoid the problem of desktop icons becoming covered up by open windows. DockDisks is a hack, and as such it is obviously not perfect. The main caveat is that the Dock is quit and relaunched when the list of disks is refreshed, because the Dock has no API for adding/removing items, and thus has to be relaunched to refresh its settings. However, DockDisks does do its job, which is to put your disks in the dock. Current features: - Preference pane interface - Can be set to automatically launch at login - Automatically mounts disks when they are inserted - Automatically unmounts disks when they are ejected - Automatically ejects removable disks and servers when they are dragged off of the dock - Allows the user to choose whether to display fixed disks, removable disks, servers, or any combination thereof in the dock. - Allows the user to choose the area of the dock in which the disks will appear - German localization by Sebastian Krau=DF - French localization by Ronald Leroux #### BINHEX dp-autochanger.hqx **** From: "Donald E. When you drag a window's title bar and Solid Dragging is active, the whole window image is moved instead of a dull-looking window outline. If the Update Windows option is also active, all windows are updated on the fly without waiting for you to release the mouse. Not as fast as the BeOS, but definitely better than the standard Mac OS behavior! DragAnyWindow also allows you to easily move any kind of window, including dialogs, alerts, standard "Open" and "Save" dialogs, game windows and other non-movable windows. It lets you bring back to the desktop any window that has gone out of sight, or center the front window on the main screen with a single keystroke. These options are very useful for old applications designed for the 9" screen (which often use fixed windows) and for moving modal dialogs and windows behind them.
